Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) is a leading refiner and recycler of precious group metals. The growing demand for low carbon and responsibly sourced products is creating growth opportunities in critical metals recycling and secondary refining, and as the world's largest precious metals recycler, PGMS is a key player in the circular economy.

This position, which reports directly to the PMO Supervisor is primarily responsible for preparing melts for Production. This involves following melt "recipes", pulling from stock the "ingredients", ensuring precise measurements and timely completion. Attention to detail is vital for this role. The Melt Prep Analyst follows the guidance of the Melt Calendar to determine the days' activities. The Melt Calendar is managed and maintained by the Supply Chain Analyst. It is also responsible for handling and processing incoming shipments of raw materials, supplies, and materials shipped to us from customers for refining services.

In addition to preparing melts this role also involves assisting with other functions of the Precious Metal Office (PMO). These may include packaging, shipping, receiving, etc. The incumbent over time will be cross trained in these additional functions.

Your responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate adherence to the various melt specifications ("recipes")
  • Ensure accurate weight measurements of different precious metals
  • Ensure maximum utilization of existing metal inventory to minimize the addition of new metal procured from suppliers
  • Maintain timely completion of melts and adherence to the Melt Calendar
  • Ensure proper control and accounting of all precious metals during process
  • Maintain strict adherence to all safety protocols, including use of required PPE, timely completion of regular trainings, and diligence for the safety of oneself as well as others
  • This position also plays a key role in annual inventory


Requirements for the role:
  • High School diploma or equivalent with three to five years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • STRONG Mathematics skills are required.
  • Strong command of English and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate skills in teamwork, planning, organization, problem solving, communications and the ability to learn
  • Must be able to work independently
